Mini Date Night

We were going to pass on our date night this week as we need it for next week. But Siew Gin insisted we go out tonight as we both have had a rough week. As Damith wanted to play badminton, we compromised. He played for a little over an hour while Siobhan and I hung out at the Millsers. Right before bedtime my prince arrived to take me to dinner!

Thanks Siew Gin and Alan for watching Siobhan!

Dinner with Steffanne

I was on my computer yesterday when Steffen popped online, so we skyped with him and Anne. Bit funny considering that they live 15 minutes away. Anyway we invited then over for dinner to hang out and catch up. Sabrina prepared a dairy and gluten free meal using our new stove and the new cookware set I got her. Quite delicious I must say. We had dinner and then sat around the table chatting till pretty late considering tomorrow is a work day. It was nice.

Home on the Range

The kitchen updates keep coming. We've been wanting to get a new stove for a while. Our old one was getting finnicky with the coils not working sometimes (without some jiggling), plus we were never too happy with the one large and 3 small burners. Since we got the new stainless steel fridge right before Christmas, the old white stove was looking pretty dated. Sabrina's never been a fan of gas ranges (childhood scares), so we had been looking into electric ranges. It was then that I came across induction cooking; gas like control without the worry of blowing your house up. The technology intrigued me but we weren't sure we wanted to spend that much on new tech, therefore we put the purchase on hold to see if a good deal came up. Long story short, I was a Lowe's and they had the exact range I wanted (the Samsung FTQ307NWGX) deeply discounted so I managed to convince Sabrina and we bought it yesterday! It was delivered and installed this morning.

Now the microwave looks really old. Guess that'll be next.

The Cutting Edge

It's been a long time coming, but Siobhan finally got her first haircut today. Her hair has been the constant source of compliments as well as complaints (mainly from Siew Gin). We took her to Pigtails and Crewcuts and were pleasantly surprised by the amenities, by which we mean stuff to distract the kids. Anyway here's the result.

Before

After

We couldn't bring ourselves to have too much taken off. At least now it doesn't get in her eyes.

Story Time & Ducks

Damith has been telling me about the ducks near the Boulder library for some time. So since he had half day today due to the MLK, Jr holiday this coming Monday, I thought Siobhan and I could head into Boulder with him. After parking at the office and grabbing a hot coffee for me, Siobhan and I started our walk to Boulder Creek. Since it was a bit cool and it was taking us a bit longer since Siobhan was walking much of the way, we cut through the Boulder library and happened upon story time in the children's section. Siobhan was excited about the singing portion but quickly got bored with the story telling, which surprised me. Maybe it was the book or the way the librarian was reading. Her attention turned to the fish tank...

After story time, the librarian handed out coloring pages of farm animals and created a scavenger hunt to find the crayons. Of course Siobhan picked the cow and pig pages and we sat at a nearby table and started coloring. I am glad Siobhan likes to color because it gives me an excuse to color too! Siobhan could barely reach over the top of the table, but was determined to stay seated and color her cow purple!

Onto Boulder creek to chase the ducks...

Afterwards we cut back through the library and checked out some books for us to read to Siobhan. Looks like Friday story time at the library could become a regular activity for us.

Watching the boys

Siew Gin suggested we do a baby swap every week so each couple can have a date night. Tonight was the first night and the Millsers enjoyed a Latin dinner in Boulder while Damith and I watched Tyler and Cody.
They all liked story time and when Damith did 'this little piggie'. Tyler was laughing hysterically by the time Damith was on his second toe.
We are excited about our date night next week.  We'll see how long the baby swap lasts.

Basta revisited

We were in Boulder later than usual and Sabrina was getting hungry so we decided to go to Basta. We had tried a week ago at lunchtime, but they were closed. Something about focusing on dinner. Dinner was nice. Sabrina has a salad and the peppers pizza and I had the white pizza. The white was a bit bland for me. Next time I will pick the peppers. Siobhan enjoyed the cheese pizza and bits of Sabrina's salad. Overall a nice dinner out

Breaking Back

After what seems like years Matt has finally finished his bar. He had Chad and I come over to help him move it inside. Let's just say that it was very solidly put together. We barely got it inside without hurting ourselves, and I'm sure there are going to be some sore backs tomorrow. Sorry but no pictures to post since its all classified till the big bar reveal. We then tested out the layout by having Matt's favorite Glenlivet. After which we had a lovely dinner of chicken and potatoes that Matt had prepared. Siobhan couldn't get enough off it. Something about food that was not made at home or by us.

Gymboree with Nandi

Akki has been looking for an activity to do with Siobhan on a regular basis. So today she signed up Siobhan for Gymboree Play and Learn every Saturday morning. It's great for all of us; Siobhan gets to spend time with her aunt and we get to have baby free time.

Today she rode the wooden horse and slid down the slide. She enjoyed playing with the parachute with Akki and making music banging on big tube, as evidenced above.

P.S. She stood right in front of and stared at a bearded dad for a loooong time making Akki uncomfortable.

Dinner with the Millsers

Siew Gin has been on vacation for the past week so she's been cooking a lot. As we have never been able turn down a good home cooked meal we've spent quite a few days at their house in the last week. So as a thank you for feeding us we had them over for dinner. Sabrina made pork chops with a strawberry topping and mashed potatoes. By the empty dishes and plates I think everything tasted pretty good.

The Return of Hish

After a long absence from the sport today marked the much anticipated return of my sister to badminton. Today was the first badminton day of the year and true to her word she made an appearance. Bets are still being made as to how long she will continue. In the meantime we'll have one more person to help watch Siobhan.

Starting the new year off with a bang...

Damith was cleaning up the basement and putting the last box of the night into the crawl space when the light goes out. Damith crawls out holding the top of his head and tells me he broke the light bulb with his head. I thought he was joking until he pulls his hand away and I see the gushing blood.

Thankfully Siobhan was already asleep. While I waited for Akki to come and watch her, Damith walked across the street to the urgent care.

We are waiting for an X-ray...

No glass in his head and no stitches! Just glued him up!

From Damith - I have baby shampoo and super glue at home. We could have taken care of this at home. But he has to admit the doctors have been very nice.

Happy New Year !!!

Wishing everyone the bestest year ever!!!. Lots of love.

Under New Management

As you have guessed the pressures of parenthood were more than Sabrina anticipated and our blog fell by the wayside. Given the alternative I think that was the right decision on her part. As of today, I'll be taking over blogging duties, let's see how that goes.
