Sleeping babies

Siobhan and Cleo
One of the joys of staying home with Siobhan on Fridays is that we all get to have long naps.

What do you think of the picture quality? I took it with the iPad camera!

Flagstaff Fires

On Tuesday we had a department birthday lunch and one of the conversations was about the many fires in Colorado (Estes Park, Ft. Collins, and Colorado Springs). Within half hour of us returning to the office, a thunderstorm blew in and soon thereafter we saw the black plumes of smoke near Bear Mountain!

The smoke had gotten worse by the time Damith and Siobhan came to pick me up. As we were leaving Boulder, a pre-evacuation had been ordered for south Boulder near our old apartment.

Fire as of Tuesday night

The fire is burning 1.5 miles outside the city limits.
It is sad seeing our mountains on fire!

As of this morning, the fire had burned 300 acres and is 30% contained. The fire officials hope to have the fire completely contained by Saturday.

Yummy Indian Dinner

Awhile back Shashank agreed to make homemade Indian dinner during an F1 race weekend. Yesterday, Damith took him up on this offer and this evening we enjoyed lamb biryani, spicy chicken and raitha. Akki assisted by making Sri Lankan deviled potatoes. Dinner was so good that we finally saw Akki in her glasses as 'dinner is so good she wanted to see what she was eating'! For dessert we had Kheer. Surprisingly the package stated 20 servings and initially we laughed. But after all we ate, we understood there would be little room left for dessert and thus it could be stretched to twenty.

We will continue to offer our spare room and flat screen TV during any race weekend if Shashank will continue to feed us!

Hello iPad

In an effort to simplify technology with his parents, Damith purchased an iPad and we 'are trying it out' prior to our trip to Sri Lanka later this year.

Of course the first App installed was Fruit Ninja, but as you can see we have installed a few more. Perhaps now we will have more blog updates...
